Don Young (R - Fort Yukon) was born June 9, 1933 in Meridian, California. He received an A.A. from Yuba Junior College in 1952 and a B.A. from Chico State College in 1958. He was first elected to the U.S. House in 1973 in a special election following the disappearance of incumbent Rep. Nick Begich (D), whose plane went missing on a flight from Anchorage to Juneau on October 16, 1972, and has been the Alaska At-Large representative since then.

- In 1994, appeared at a hearing to question the first female head of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Mollie Beattie, brandishing the penis bone of a walrus (ibid)
- In 1995, addressed a group of students in Fairbanks on the need to cut federal funding for the arts, which he said had underwritten, "photographs of people doing offensive things," and "things that are absolutely ridiculous." Asked for specifics, Young answered, "Buttfucking." (ibid)

- Young attended the 2006 "Great Congressional Shoot-Out," an event sponsored by The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation. Foundations can raise unlimited amounts of money and no campaign finance transperancy is required for such sponsorship. Merchants of (retail) death Beretta and Winchester, the National Rifle Association, Wal-Mart and outfitters Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops sponsored the Congressional shootout and schmoozeathon.
