Democracy

From dKosopedia

"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard." - H.L. Mencken

Etymology

The word 'democracy' comes from the Greek words 'demos' (people) and 'kratos' (rule). When translated literally like that it might sound like something a humanist surfer dude might say ("people rule, man!")... don't let this confuse you.

Structure and Theory

There are many forms of democracy, including deliberative democracy, direct democracy, representative democracy, and liberal democracy.
