I think many are disappointed that dKosopedia hasn't 'taken off'. I think to really be an encyclopedia of left politics, a whole lot more BASIC information needs to be inputted (drudgery!) to reach CRITICAL MASS. Not many people have the time and the perserverence to do it I suppose. But, this site has great potential. People have to want to return to the site and find use in it. It's good to have up to date info on the topic of the day like Alito, but to have an useful encyclopedia people doing searches have to find you and find info they can use that means a WIDE base, a good foundation, of progressive info. My two cents!

(That's great, by the way) I'm pretty much like you just started working on the Hawaii page and have recently started working on other state pages because no one else is and the elections are coming up. I've not put my fingers on the main page before. All I know is that the less links there are from the main page the better. Every so often some sort of spam bot (?) attacks the main page and puts unwanted links to dKosopedia articles that have links on the main page, every so often. Thus, I've cleaned off the unwanted links from various pages when I can, when I see the spam bots have left their trail in the Recent changes page. So you know as much as I do about the main page! Glad to see you and Bart Fraden scurrying around the site. I hope all this makes sense. Let me know if you're exasperated!

Maybe what I should do is format what's on the Texas page to conform to how it's done on the gubernatorial elections, 2006 page and format the Texas info to the format of the gubernatorial elections, 2006 page and both pages can link to each other.

Putting 2006 election info in each state's page is important, I think, AND providing an overall nationwide look at the 2006 gubernatorial elections which is what you're doing is a also a great informational tool. I placed a link under elections heading on the Texas page to Texas gubernatorial election, 2006 which is also listed as a link under U.S. elections
Should I just have a Texas elections, 2006 link/subheading, (which would be on the Texas page under the heading Texas elections) and have a link on that Texas elections page to gubernatorial elections, 2006? How does that sound?

This and that
You, Jbet, and I seem to be the only ones interested in creating hard political articles (elections, candidate bios, etc). The two of us are apparently also the only ones willing to do the hard work to structure state articles in a way that allows easy creation of such articles (my update of the NY legislature was a lot of work).
Part of the problem is that this encyclopedia is little known, and little visited. It also suffers severely comparison to the main wikipedia, in terms of overall quality of articles: lots of people would not take us very seriously. There is also the issue that lots of people treat this as a blog, leaving nearly contextless articles that make no sense at all after two years pass (as with all those 2004 election cycle articles).
The solution, of course, is to recruit additional serious editors. The mentions of dKosopedia on dKos are rather scant, even tho' a link is right up there.
Another thought is a serious email campaign to various Dem web sites bringing ourselves to their attention (I've already started this, to a limited extent), but would like to discuss this approach more. Basically, we have to reach out to non-dKos readers (which largely includes myself: it's a maze of responses of right-now hot topics that decay in interest within days).
I can tell you from experience that there are people who would like easy to print, non-graphic-intensive articles on various candidates (campaign web sites tend to wipe out your color cartridge).
There are a number of other things I'm also thinking about, but these are less pressing.

Hi, you're doing great work, but you've been editing pages that have serious dKosopedia:page name issues without renaming them. Please review dKosopedia:page name issue and comment. If you don't agree, say so. If you do agree, please implement the name changes next time you edit the page, or be ready to watch the pages move around possibly breaking some links. It's impossible to ask others to track shifting page names, so it's critical to follow conventions.

Help getting critical mass on CT-Sen FAQ?
Hi...I'm looking to heavily recruit folks to edit the CT-Sen FAQ article, and I'm trying to get a critical mass of editors around it. Post election reorganization
Hi Corncam, I read your article on reorganization. Your ideas sound great. Give me a little time to respond more thoroughly. I'll be trying to help update state pages with current info and update election pages.
One thought though, watch capitalizations in article titles, see Conserve capitals, (one may get scolded by others)!
