Progressives believe that trust is earned. Progressives believe that a trustworthy and efficient government is one held accountable for its actions.

Privacy

Personal independence and privacy is a distinguishing feature of American society. Progressives value personal privacy -- the government must not intrude in a person's life unless it is to protect the rights of others.

Self-realization

Progressives believe in fostering growth and proving the opportunity for people to fulfill their potential. Progressives value self-realization and believe in the government as an agent of good, providing an environment conducive to creating wealth and enabling the pursuit of happiness.
