Open Source Politics

Hi. wegerje here. A long time ago I was an admin here (see the credits page). Seeing as how it's been years since I contributed it is good that my status was downgraded to ordinary, regular type user. I came back to do a little work on the Illinois page blog list. My current efforts are with our local state blog Prairie State Blue. So I figured I'd make sure we were at least up to date here.

So while I was here I decided to add a 50 State Blog Network list. At least a starter page. When I went to put a pointer to the page somewhere, anywhere relevant, I realized that I could no longer edit the Main page. Not that that would be where such a link would belong, of course. Anyway I decided to leave a note to the current admins to find an appropriate place to place a link to the 50 State Blog Network page.

That's when I realized that really, there should be a link on the front/Main Page pointing to a page where the current admins are noted, described and can be communicated with. Perhaps the credits page would do, but really a separate current admins page would be better.

This is in the spirit of open source politics. It's important to know who is running and maintaining a resource such as this.

Hi Greg, welcome back. Good idea, putting links to the 50 State article and to a list of admins (probably this page) is now on my todo list. --Centerfielder 11:53, 1 April 2008 (PDT)

Just consider it for just about any minute. The server ask for tracks just about every transaction. If a mail concept is been given from the participant http://www.buytiffanyandco.com/tiffany-keys.html named "xggyzz" that contains 10,000 or an awesome offer more gold, it is pretty apparent how the transaction is regularly a gold vendor transaction. Sending a good friend or guildmate, and even an even more character near to http://www.buytiffanyandco.com/tiffany-keys.html some comparable account that substantially gold doesn't ring a comparable alarm bells how the 1st transaction sets off.

The 2nd invisible price tag that you http://www.buytiffanyandco.com/tiffany-and-co-charms.html simply will possibly experience are steering to be the actuality that of account theft.

A great offer of gold sellers and energy leveling companies make the 1st tier income by reselling gold straight to players. These companies http://www.buytiffanyandco.com/tiffany-jewellery.html then make their 2nd tier income by hacking in to the accounts from the participant that purchased their gold and stripping and reselling all their equipment and sending the gold to some middleman. once the participant is trusted by their guild, they might have entry in the direction of guild bank. It's not unusual to http://www.ghdladen.com/glatteisen-gunstig-ghd.html create hacked accounts raiding the guild financial institution and stripping that bare.

Religion Articles

I have noticed that the religion and politics articles are still very limited.

I was wondering if there are folks who would be willing to help me add more content. I am specifically thinking of biographies of folks like Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Reinhold Niebuhr, Rosemary Reuther, etc. Any takers?

I've started a list. Roger 16:54, 28 June 2007 (PDT)

Orange Heart Attack

Ok, this mrongin I want to do a few minor follow-up tweaks to some edits I did last night, and somehow the "blue" database or version of dKospedia was gone, and I was getting 404 errors on any of the pages I had bookmarked, and the main page was the old "orange" version of dKospedia with content that stopped being changed in 2004. It gave me a heart attack. Any word on what happened? Lestatdelc 12:36, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Weird

http://www.dkosopedia.com/wiki/Progress_%26_Freedom_Foundation

Why does this link to Progress? Must be something about the & symbol... Chadlupkes 07:26, 26 June 2006 (PDT)

It does have something to do with the & symbol. There's another one in Special:Ancientpages with the & symbol that we can't access. Please, DO NOT USE THE & SYMBOL WHEN CREATING NEW ARTICLES! It makes them unaccessible. Chadlupkes 20:06, 26 June 2006 (PDT)

Stirring up interest on Daily Kos

(cross posted to Daily Kos)

It seems there's a lot of energy on Daily Kos that goes into high quality, well-researched diaries that disappear into the archives. Meanwhile, things just seem to languish over here.

It seems that this would be a really great place to coalesce on a "Daily Kos Platform" of sorts. The problem, though, is manifold:

It seems like we could tie things together. One idea would be to have a "Daily Kos Platform" page, with a fixed threshold of planks. These would be links+summaries to pages where the plank is listed in greater detail. Additionally, a page of plank nominees is created. Anyone can add their proposed plank to this page. A series of polls would determine what goes on these pages:

Template:Infobox-Congress

I'm not really good at creating templates like this, but it seems like a general Congress template is not in much demand. I'm going to delete the references to it until it is actually needed on a page. I like the daily, weekly and other summary pages, but unless we're going to keep on it and make it work right, it's not looking really good. Chadlupkes 12:40, 7 June 2007 (PDT)

Query

Why do you require email to edit, a ReCaptcha for page creation and protection of the main page? You're nearly as bad as CP. Phantom Hoover 14:12, 6 February 2009 (EST)

As on all Wikis, there is a problem of spam and vandalism here. This being a political site, the problem is even worse. If you think this is bad, take a look at Conservapedia. You can't even register on the site.--Cherlin 23:13, 12 August 2009 (EDT)

Daily Kos recommended book list

Hi Everyone, during the discussion of Howard Zinn's death on January 27th, several people were wondering how it could possibly be that many dedicated members of the Daily Kos had never heard of this great historian. I myself only read Zinn's history just a couple months ago, and I thought that if there were such a thing as a recommended book list I would have found Zinn's book years earlier.

Therefore, I propose to make a page containing a big (or little) list of books which the members of Daily Kos believe are essential to being a complete and active member of our community.

I envision a main page containing the list of books, with a link to a short description of what is in the book and the reason why the book is recommended specifically to Daily Kos participants. The discussion page underneath each book's main page would serve as a kind of "book club" where discussion could take place, like a book group.

Pump and move

As a clueless newbie, I created dKosopedia:Village pump and dKosopedia talk:Village pump for symmetry with Wikipedia. I hope someone will note the problems I reported in dKosopedia talk:Village pump but then it might be appropriate to convert those pages into redirects to here.

I was trying to find out the criteria that a user must satisfy before they can move articles. Please state them somewhere. — RHaworth 14:01, 7 February 2010 (EST)
