Civil Rights

Civil rights are those rights permitted to the citizen of a state (or expected by a citizen from his government). There is some overlap between the definitions of civil rights, civil liberties and human rights.
Specific civil rights generally include:
- Free participation in the democratic process
- The right of free political and personal expression
- Security in one's own person and possessions
- Freedom from discrimination based on political, religious, ethnic, or sexual leanings
