Calico Nation

From dKosopedia

Introduction

Definitions

Multiculturalism: or cultural pluralism is a policy, ideal, or reality that emphasizes the unique characteristics of different cultures in the world, especially as they relate to one another in immigrant receiving nations. (wiki)

Ethnopoles: are centers of national concentration. They include point of national origin and concentrations of diaspora. Example: Both the People's Republic of China and Chinatown in San Francisco are ethnopoles for the Chinese nation; Isreal is an ethnopole for the Jewish nation, as is New York.

Fringe: the edges; as one moves further from the center of a phenomenon the influence of the phenomenon diminishes and other phenomenon can have greater influence. Example: Consider two ink splots on a wet piece of paper, the colors will be strongest in the middle and will fade further from the center. If two are close enough their fringes will overlap and the colors will mix creating a new color.
Literally, a fringe is an ornamental appendage to the border of an item. It originally consisted of the ends of the warp, projecting beyond the woven fabric. More commonly it is made separate and sewed on, consisting sometimes of projecting ends, twisted or plaited together, and sometimes of loose threads of wool, silk, or linen, or narrow strips of leather, or the like. wiki

Generation: a stage or degree in the succession of natural descent. Example: grandfather, father, and son are three generations.
