Bolivia is a landlocked country in South America.
The eastern region has large reserves of Natural Gas. The gas fields are operated by major energy companies such as Petrobras (the Brazilian state energy company), Total, Repsol and British Gas, and much of the production is exported to Brazil. In 2005, large scale protests disrupted plans to expand production, and build a pipeline to the Pacific Ocean.
