Boeing

From dKosopedia

Boeing is the largest aircraft manufacturer based in the United States. It is the only American company making civilian airliners and competes primarily with the European consortium Airbus. Lockheed Martin is the only other manufacturer of major military aircraft in the United States.

Famous Boeing airliners include the 737, the 747 and the 777. The current flagship development project for Boeing is the 7E7, a long range, medium sized airliner. Its competition, Airbus, in contrast, has chosen to try to pursue the very large airliner route, recently offering for sail an airliner even larger than a 747.

All other aircraft manufacturers in the United States compete in the "general aviation market" making small aircraft primarily for pleasure use, business executive transportation, crop dusting and the like.

Boeing has a large presence in Seattle, Washington and the surrounding area.
