Al Weed is a Democratic veteran and former Command Sergeant Major, U.S. Army, from Virginia. He ran for Congress in the Fifth CD, but lost to the incumbent, see Virginia U.S. House election, 2006. He is one of the Fighting Dems.

Al Weed grew up in a poor family, but he won a scholarship to Yale. He interrupted his college education to join the Army, serving in Panama and Vietnam, before returning to complete his degree. He met his wife, Emily Chan, while he was in the service, and they have two children. Al went on to a career in international finance, before returning to Virginia in 1973 to take up his lifelong love of farming.
