Lincoln felt his military backround during the Blackhawk War was a complete joke describing it as a time in which he valiantly fought mosquitoes.

Though he was versed in the Bible and a Christian there is no record of Lincoln ever being a formal member of any church.

During the Mexican-American War Lincoln was an anti-war activist on par with John Murtha.
