Walter Heen

Walter Heen, a member of the Democratic Party, was a territorial and state representative and a state senator. Heen is a also a retired state appellate judge.

Heen was also one of five authors of an essay that ran in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin called, Broken Trust. The essay called for a probe of the trustees of the Bishop Estate. [1]

Heen was elected chairman of the Hawaii Democratic Party in 1998 after a heated contest with former Lt. Gov. Thomas Gill, who represented a more liberal faction of the party. Heen, a moderate democrat, was reelected chairman in 2000. Heen resigned the chairmanship in 2001 and was succeeded by Lorraine Akiba.
