ThreadSummaries & MP w/ Args

Tnx, CF; I was working the list of all the articles, looking for things deserving stub msgs, and just stumbled across ThreadSummaries, which eventually led me to the MP because it is linked from there. I didn't plan to work further on the Args aspect of it, but I admit it's a worthy task & I'll follow up by doing the same with the similarly-named pages.

With regard to that work, your note begins to hint for me at how this Alternate Main Pages thing must work. One question: have you considered and ruled out using the MediaWiki msg facility for what i assume must be many common elements of the various versions? If the answer is "No" (or "Wha...?" for that matter!), I'll take a look to see if it's as likely to work as I think, then build & point out to you a pilot use of it.

Finally (and I can't recall whether this response is overdue or repetitious), I'm not ignoring your invitation to start the dKosopedia:Namespace page. I think much of what I wrote on dKosopedia talk:Thread summary is another important part of that page-to-be, and I think I'm about ready to put a first draft on dKosopedia:Namespace.

Islamofascism

Yesterday I added some comments to this article (which has little merit anywhere much less in a progressive encyclopedia), but I was surprised to find just now that it was crossed out. The article should be deleted (preferably) or revised, but "crossing it out" is really a bad idea, I think. CSTAR 16:23, 26 Oct 2004 (PDT)

If no-one objects I am going to delete most of the garbage that is currently crossed out in this article. Actually, I think part of the article serves a purpose since the term is (or was used) by Andrew Sullivan who though I don't particularly like does merit constructive criticism from progressives. I regard him as somebody that "has lost his political moral compass". I may take flak for this, but I think he belongs with progressives.

Math tags

I notice that math tags to produce PNG files of TeX code don't work on dkosopedia. Now you may ask why do I care about math tags? Well I would like to start an article with a far-ranging and careful analysis of Dembski's Specified complexity; to do this I really need math tags.

Navigation links

The navigation bar that shows up on the left on all dKosopedia pages have several links that are bothersome: "Current events" list events that are not current, "Help" which is no help, and "Donations" which is a dead end. "Current events" is #34 on the 'popular pages' list! Perhaps they can be deleted until they are truly relevant?--Jbet777 16:12, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Frameshop is a protected Trademark

Hi Centerfielder,

I got an email from Jeffrey Feldman in reply from Liberal Thinking (Rich) about the Frameshop pages, and he's asking us to not use his trademark. I think moving the Frameshop: pages to Frametank: will work. I'll work on this over the next few days, and if I can get some help that would be great. I posted the email here. I changed this to put in my stage name. Also, as you know, I've changed most of the pages to remove the "Frameshop" trademark. You can see these changes on the main page in the Projects area. The only remaining issue is the link on the main page in the "Election integrity articles" area and some minor links that need to be chased down in the details.

Also, I'm still setting up the "Frame Creation by Topic" area.

Election results

Hi Centerfielder-

You may or may not have noticed that in the last couple weeks I've, on my own initiative (first time I've done anything with dKosopedia), started a project of election results pages. Seeing as how you just posted the swank new version of 2004 election results with the sortable table, I thought maybe we should coordinate our efforts so we don't overlap (if you were planning on doing more election data tables). I've decided that what I'm doing is actually complementary to what you're doing... your table is a comparison of states for a particular year, while I'm doing a different page for each state, comparing results over the years (for gubernatorial and senatorial races as well as presidential), so you can see statewide evolution (or devolution). Here's a sample: Alabama election results. (So far I'm up through Kansas, and was thinking of adding major counties once I've finished with all the states.) I also started an all-purpose page called Election results to which I'm linking all my new pages; if you want to coordinate efforts, please link your new page and any other tables of election data you know of here that fit. (Also, if you have any input on any possible improvements to the tables I'm putting together, especially if you think these should have the sortable table function applied to them, I'd be glad to have your input.) -- Crisitunity 1:00 17 October 2007 (PDT)

Is it a referrer problem

I had the same problem with no images showing up and noticed your response on Jbet's page. I tweaked my settings a bit and I needed to enable "referrer logging." Quite a number of people have referrer logging disabled and that way you get an empty URL as the source page. DrDebug 04:55, 23 February 2008 (PST)

Can you lock a page

Can you lock Template:If, because I already used it at quite a number of places and it is a patchy Mediawiki extension which nobody should edit anyhow. DrDebug 06:33, 28 February 2008 (PST)

Protect, not unprotect

I think you made a little mistake, it is now unprotected which was basically what it was before as well.

The reason for protecting this template:

  1. Nobody can or should change the template. Even if becomes deprecated with new software, it can just remain as is, because the parser function is called #if.
  2. I already used it on over 100 pages and it'll be used at least 100 times more.
  3. It is a second level template which is only used in other templates.
  4. It is usually cached permanently because of its frequent usage, so a simple revert in case of vandalism will still result in hours of faulty pages unless the reverter knows that he should issue a action=purge as well.

why are other people given credit for my article?

I wrote Winning_the_war_against_totalitarianism. 99% of the edits are by me, too. BartFarden and Brudny are given credit as the author in the space below the article. Bart wrote on the discussion page that is was a "rant," and that's been his major contribution.

And I just looked at an article that I have never had anything to do with and found: Based on work by ..... Patrick0Moran.

This is possibly somebody's brilliant idea to give individuals credit for working for the entire group??? So what happens when somebody's boss finds his employee is given credit for an article on some wickedly liberal policy initiative -- e.g., a Ruger employee is credited with an article advocating draconian controls on handgun possession, heavy sentences for gun dealers who mess up their paperwork, and a rant against arms merchants driving civilization toward a final shoot-out? p0m 01:26, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
