- Goodbye, Death Tax. Hello, Birth Tax! by (Buzzflash.com, The Angry Liberal, 23 June 2003)
George Bush fought to get rid of what he called the ‘death tax’ – so that multi-millionaires could pass off all their inheritance. But he is saddling every child born in this country with a ‘birth tax’— $35,000 that they will come into this world owing as their share of the national debt. It’s time we brought fiscal sanity back to the White House.
Analysis
Cited as the flipside to the so-called death tax, itself a reframing of the estate tax. Can be used as a counter to the claim that deficits don't matter. However, it reinforces the frame that taxation is inherently negative.
