Talk:Republicans are racist

Joshyelon Personally, I'd prefer to let this meme alone. I don't think many Republicans are actively anti-black these days. A few, yes. But not many. True, their policies tend to hurt blacks, but I don't think that's because Republicans care about skin color. It's simply a side-effect of their constant attacks on those living in poverty, and the fact that many blacks are living in poverty at this time. I wouldn't want to "push" this meme, simply because I think it's an unfair attack. I'd rather go with fully-justified assertion that Republican policies hurt the poor.

Gryn: I would agree with you that it's an unfair grossly generalized attack. However consider that this is a "meme" which means that it is something that is out there and there are reasons for it's staying power.

PS: I hope you don't mind that I pulled your comment from the topic page itself and put it here since in my experience blending commentary on a topic and trying to maintain a static informational page tends to be a bit noisy (that is what this page discussion feature is for).

Lestatdelc Vote to delete this entry. Lestatdelc 18:31, 24 Jun 2005 (PDT) (This in response to User:Bugmenow's pointing of this article to the Robert Byrd entry.

Seconded. The point of my re-direct was to point out the blatant hypocricy in having such a page in a political encyclopedia. (this comment is from User:Bugmenow)

Lestatdelc 18:13, 24 Jun 2005 (PDT) No, the point of your edit is to vadalize and smear Senator Byrd.
I concur -- delete, or re-title. Dkosopedia isn't supposed to be neutral, but should still clearly distinguish fact from opinion/hearsay/rumor. Articles like this ought to be disclaimed in their titles. Osterizer 16:06, 25 Jun 2005 (PDT)

DRolfe 23:40, 30 Jul 2005 (PDT) Not to be a dick, but I disagree -- this article is clearly marked as a meme. We don't control the memes in America. Deleting it just because we don't agree or think it's unfair doesn't really accomplish anything (groupthink?! here?!). I think it's better to let the sun shine and to be transparent than to be myopic about things we either don't agree with or things that sully up our Beautiful Minds. FWIW I think many Americans are racist (and pointing out how rich, white or republican they are or aren't doesn't make it less true). Why do I think this? Because I have an interracial marriage. Also, it's not hypocritical to have this meme described and discussed on this site. Bugmenow is totally wrong in that regard. In reference to his/her snark -- there is no denying that many Dixiecrats were racist. Hello! Welcome to 2005! Republicans love to get-off on this by counting how many Democrats voted against equal rights (ah, the logical fallacy of ambiguity).
