Stepin Fetchit (a contraction of "Step and Fetch It") was the stage name of Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry, a Black comic performer in vaudeville and early talking films who played the role of the servile, dim-witted, shuffling Black. The product of a horrific era in American life for people of color, Perry became a symbol in the 1950s and 1960s for what was contemptible about a general national consciousness that subordinated and shamed Black Culture and about a timid approach by some in the Civil Rights Movement.

Perry was born in the West Indies in May 30, 1902.
