Silvestre Reyes

Silvestre Reyes is a Democratic Congressman from Texas, where he represents the 16th district. He was elected to Congress in 1996, after a 26 year career with the the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. Reyes is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Intelligence Committee

Reyes is the chariman of the House Committee on Intelligence. Unfortunately, he is poorly informed about basic facts of the Middle East; for example, he didn't know that Al-Qaeda consists of fundamentalist Sunnis. Iraq

  • Reyes has called for sending 20-30 thousand more U.S. troops into Iraq "on a temporary basis".
