Pro-choice
From dKosopedia
The term "pro-choice" is used by men and women who support a woman's right to autonomy over her own body and her reproductive destiny.
The term means that a woman has the right to determine whether or not she will be pregnant.
At times, it may be necessary for a woman to choose to terminate a pregnancy because of health issues, possibly damage to her education or career plans or for other reasons, such as deciding that she is not ready to assume the onerous responsibilities of being a parent.
Unfortunately, women are severely penalized in the workplace for choosing to be pregnant, for choosing to be a parent. If there are health issues associated with a pregnancy a woman may be penalized for absences due to necessary medical appointments or illness associated with a pregnancy, as well as for the time necessary to give birth and recover from giving birth.
The U.S., as opposed to advanced industrial nations, frowns on the time taken off by a parent to bond with a newly born child, and there is no guarantee of leave, unpaid or not, or job security, as a result of choosing pregnancy and the responsibilities of being a parent.
