  • On Feb. 7, 2006, Bill Scranton withdrew from the Republican primary.
  • Republican candidate for governor Bill Scranton, a former Lt. Governor who is white and comes from a wealthy family, issued an apology to fellow Republican candidate and pro football Hall of Famer Lynn Swann, an African-American, for comments made by Scranton's campaign manager on Wednesday, January 25, 2006. James Seif is reported to have said that the, "rich white guy in this campaign is Lynn Swann" on a televised call-in talk show. Like his boss Mr. Seif is also white. He previously served in Gov.
