Office of Native Hawaiian Relations
From dKosopedia
The Office of Native Hawaiian Relations, created by means of a US appropriations bill in January 2004, is expected to oversee the legal relationship between Native Hawaiians and the U.S. government. The move is an important first step toward establishing the legal and political relationship between Native Hawaiians and the federal government.
"The establishment of the office," Sen. Daniel Inouye said, "advances the cause of self-determination for Native Hawaiians, and is an important component of the Akaka Bill that the Hawaii Congressional delegation supports."
