• General election result is undecided:

         Heather Wilson     (R)  104,575  50%    
         Patricia A. Madrid (D)  102,968  50%

• Outlook: Wilson has been trying to distance herself from the Bush administration, most recently by criticising the practice of illegal wiretaps. Both candidates have held celebrity fundraisers, with Laura Bush and John Edwards respectively, but recent polling shows them virtually even.
