Often equated with human rights. In the libertarian tradition, natural rights consist in the right to non-interference and the right to property. Left-leaning rights theorists often posit a more robust set of rights, including the right to an adequate standard of living. The utilitarian philosopher Jeremy Bentham called natural rights "nonsense on stilts"; he believed the concept of a natural right is a contradiction, since a right is a product of a particular legal system that creates and guarantees it.
