Mark Nakashima, a member of the Democratic Party, represents the 1st Representative District of the Hawaii State Legislature. Rep. Nakashima was first elected to the legislature in 2008 replacing longtime Rep. Dwight Takamine who won election to the Hawaii State Senate. The 1st House District includes North Kohala, South Kohala, Hamakua, North Hilo and South Hilo.
