Narrative

Snowe is hugely popular in Maine. Prospects to flip this seat are slim unless a group like the Club for Growth tries to challenge her in the primary. Still, if she can be linked with the policies of the Bush administration that Maine has twice rejected, a Democrat might have a chance. UPDATE: 11/30. Political gossip in Maine has Snowe retiring and Cong. Tom Allen is running. Snowe has a medical condition and only about 300k in her finance committee. UPDATE: 8/1/2005. A personal friend of mine is close with Governor Baldacci, and the word through that particular grapevine is that Baldacci hated D.C. and would never run for national office if it required living in D.C. for any length of time. I think that a Baldacci run for this Senate seat is highly unlikely, verging on impossible.
