Living Treasures of Hawai'i

The Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii has annually, since 1976, recognized six people who embody the philosophy of giving and of perpetuating the culture of Hawai'i. Those honored as 'Living Treasures' are chosen regardless of other recognition, ethnicity, religion or economic status. The Buddhist center modeled the awards after the Living National Treasures in Japan.
