Background
An attorney and small business owner, Mannix is a former member of the Oregon Legislature, Mannix has run for statewide office twice but because of his far-right viws lost both times. In 2000, he lost a bid for Attorney General to Democratic incumbent Hardy Meyers in a bitter campaign. In 2002 he was defeated in a bid for the Governorship by Ted Kulongoski. He became state party chair in 2004.
