House Committee on Rules
House Subcommittee on Rules and the Organization of the House
Members, 109th Congress
Democrats: Republicans:

According to the Subcommittee on Rules and Organization Webpage, this is the House committee that pays attention to what all the other House committees are supposed to be doing, and continuously looks at how all the House Committees relate to each other.

In addition to worrying about the internal relations within the House, this committee deals with relations between the House and Senate, and between the Congress and the Judiciary.

Right now there are two Democrats and five Republicans serving on this subcommittee. Presumably that will change next year.

The subcommittee website lists the current subcommittee members' names and their leadership roles. According to the New York Times political page, all of these members won reelection in November 2006.

Presently, the members of this subcommittee are as follows:

Democrats:

James McGovern (MA-3rd), Ranking Minority Member

Doris O. Matsui (CA-5th)

Republicans:

Doc Hastings (WA-4th), Chair; his website says he has served since 1995

Adam Putnam (FL-12th), Vic Chair

Shelley Moore Capito (WV-2nd); her website says she is the first rep from WV to sit on this committee

Tom Cole (OK-4th)

David Dreier (CA-26th)
