House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations

After viewing the hearing for the refugees in Iraq, I am greatly disturbed. If we are truly in Iraq to free, then why do we not have a single refugee camp in Iraq. There are 2 million civilians which have been displaced. 40,000 refugees arrive in Syria PER MONTH, and 30,000 in Jordan. They are now closing their borders and the Iraqies have no where to turn. Because of the a law passed just after 9/11 no person having supported terrorists with materials can enter the US. This bill includes those who have paid ransoms givin in trade for family members as well as the price they have paid so they may survive one more day. The Iraqies working as direct hires by the are targeted if anyone finds out, yet they are not allowed to live in the green zone despite their allegience with the US and risking their lives to help our troops. The Jordanians hired do leave in the green zone.... Even more disturbing than all of this, the committee only asked for 7 million to help get refugees out, the senate gave them 9 million. When the chairwoman was asked for her advice on what the people should do whom find themselves in danger or targets, she said get out of the country...We are suspposed to be freeing them, yet we can't get a single camp up for them to go for food? Further, the US accepted 80,000 Indians into the country, 75,000 Chinese, and 649 Iraqis! If we leave, they have all been displaced because of us and we leave them homeless. To put all this into perspective, Darfur in Sudan has 2.5 million refugees (nearly the same as Iraq) and they get 2.6 BILLION dollars, Iraq refugees get 9 million...... We have spent all this money on the war to free the people, yet they are the ones suffering the most. It was also said the government only started looking into helping the refugees in Feb. 2006. This war started 5 years earlier. Syria and Jordan have risked their economy to help, and their nations have suffered. Bush will not associate with them though. He owes them a thank you for taking in his mess. Please alert the public to this immoral atroscity and present to your fellow senators a bill to correct this act of disrespect. Thank you.
Sincereley,
Meagan
