Overview

The Hawaii State Campaign Spending Commission is a five member body created by the 1973 legislature under Act 185. Commissioners are appointed by the Governor from a list of ten nominees submitted by the Judicial Council. The appointments are not subject to senatorial confirmation. Commissioners serve on a voluntary basis for a four-year term and may be reappointed for a second four-year term.

The Commission staff consists of an executive director, associate director, general counsel, administrative assistant and elections assistant.

Mission Statement

The Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission shall be dedicated to the proposition of "safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process". As a guide, the laws and rules for campaign finances shall be applied in an open and fair manner for the benefit of the community. As a regulatory agency we shall strive to maintain high public confidence in the electoral process.

  • A. Duane Black (Chairman) -- Four-year term expires on June 30, 2005.
  • Paul T. Kuramoto (Vice Chairman) -- Four-year term expires on June 30, 2007.
  • Gino L. Gabrio -- Four-year term expires on June 30, 2007.
  • Steven E. Olbrich -- Four-year term expires on June 30, 2008.
  • Dean H. Robb -- Four-year term expires on June 30, 2008.
