Abbreviation for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered. Other abbreviations used may include LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered); GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning for those unsure of their sexual orientation); or GLBTQA (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning, and Allies).
In all uses generally refers to the broad spectrum of sexuality outside of the purely heterosexual, especially the communities and cultures thereof, the networks of support groups, and the organized gay rights movement.
