The FLQ was a Québécois seperatist insurgent group with Marxist/anarchist revolutionary philosophies. Among other things it attempted to "terrorize" Canada between 1963 and 1970 with a series of bombings and kidnappings. See Wikipedia's entry on the Front de Libération du Québec.
