Brent Appel

Brent Appel (D) is an Iowa attorney. He was appointed to the Iowa Supreme Court in October, 2006. He served as Iowa's first assistant and deputy attorney general, arguing four cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. He also ran for Congress in 1982.

Appel was born in Dubuque, Iowa, and has a BA and MA in History from Stanford University, and a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He is married to Staci Appel, and they have five children.
