Narrative

The Democrats didn't even run anyone against Kyl in '00. But Pederson is said to be a strong, aggressive candidate, and Kyl's poll numbers aren't very good for a 12 year incumbent. Right now it's a lower tier race, but we'll have to see what develops. Polls taken in the July-August 2005 period indicate a surge for candidate Pederson, despite his not even having announced his candidacy. The Arizona race may end up being one to watch
