Albrecht Höhler is the German Communist Party (KPD) assassin credited with killing Nazi activist Horst Wessel in February 23, 1930. Wessel wrote the lyrics to the song Die Fahne hoch or "The Flag on High", a.k.a. "the Horst Wessel Song," the Nazi Party anthem and Germany's official co-national anthem. Höhler was sentenced to six years imprisonment for the assault, but was executed by the Gestapo after the Nazi seizure of state power in 1933.
