January: British Liberal Party loses 100 seats in British General Election.
August 14: British authorities in Sudan arrest Muktar al-Hashimi, who has declared himself to be Sahib al-Waqt or the 'Master of Time' and declared he has been instructed by God and the Prophet to declare a jihad and to rule Sudan until nabi 'isa (Prophet Jesus) came. They also arrest two of his sons and kill a third son in the process.
October 10: British court sentences Muktar al-Hashimi to hang. One son is given a life sentence and another a commuted the death sentence of the other.
October 13: Francisco Ferrer is executed. Shouts to the firing squad: "I forgive you, children! Aim straight."
