Rick Hamada

Rick Hamada is the host of Hawaii's morning drive talk show, "The Rick Hamada Program" on News Radio 830 KHVH, a Clear Channel station. Rick Hamada announced on April 1, 2010 his move to Chicago and his start June 7, 2010 on WLS radio, AM 890. However, it was, in fact, an elaborate April Fools segment and Hamada is celebrating 17 years with KHVH.

Hamada hosts a current events, pop culture and political talk program entertaining thousands of listeners from 5A-9A, Monday-Friday. Guests include the most notable and influential people in Hawaii and around the nation. Regular guests include Governor Linda Lingle, Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, Senators Sam Slom and Colleen Hanabusa plus elected and appointed officals. Notable figures appearing on his program include White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, local legend Don Ho, actor Danny Glover and musician Kenny Loggins.

Hamada has been named 1998 Radio Personality of the Year by Honolulu Weekly and has received numerous awards and citations from organizations such as Small Business Hawaii and Republican Party of Hawaii. He was recently presented with a "Rick Hamada Day" in Hawaii from Governor Linda Lingle and Lt. Governor James "Duke" Aiona.

His newspaper column, "A Conservative Estimate" appears in MidWeek, Hawaii's Favorite Newspaper, with a circulation of over 600,000. Hamada has been a contributor since 1999.

On August 13, 2011, Hamada began a locally produced radio program on KHVH geared for a national audience with the intent of capturing a syndicated audience. "The Rick Hamada Weekend" airs 12P - 2P and focuses on national current events, politics and pop culture.

"RIck Hamada's Public Affairs" television program is set to launch on KFVE Ch. 5 in September 2011. The 30-minute interview and commentary program will focus on news and newsmakers supported by content from Hawaii News Now, KGMB and KHNL.

Hamada is married to the former Bernadette Baraquio, manager of Just A Girl Productions, LLC and Executive Producer and Host of the hit TV show, "Living Local with the Baraquios" and sister of Miss America 2001 Angela Perez Baraquio. They reside in Honolulu and have two children, Zachary and Zoe, and a bunny named, Floppy.
