New Religions

The term "New Religion" is a term of art used by people who classify religions. It applies to religious systems charatized by the synthesis of major Asian religions (Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism and Taoism) with Christianity and Western philosophy and local folk beliefs in the 20th and 21st centuries. There are more than 100 million people who state that the follow these religions, mostly in Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan.
