Military-industrial complex

The military-industrial complex is the effective political coalition that results from a large permanent military that buys its weapons and other necessities from private industry, forging bonds of mutual interest between them.

The term first drew public attention when used by President Eisenhower used it in his final major address as president, warning against that coalition's influence. His original phrasing was military-industrial-congressionial complex', but he was persuaded to take that out of the final version of the speech. Another component to the overall complex is the Media.
