Mark Warner

From dKosopedia

Mark Warner is a U.S. Senator from Virginia. He was first elected to the Senate in 2008 to replace John Warner (no relation). He is also the former governor of Virginia. He was first elected in 2001 and was ineligible for self-succession in 2005 under Virginia state law.

As a popular Democratic governor in a traditionally Republican state, Warner was believed by some to have Presidential ambitions. On October 12, Warner announced that he would not seek the presidency in 2008. Some thought that Warner was on John Kerry's running-mate list in 2004; however, there was no serious evidence that he was being considered. At one point it was also once widely believed that Warner would challenge Republican Sen. George Allen in 2006.

Warner is a former Chair of the National Governors' Association.
