Madison

From dKosopedia

Madison is the state capital of Wisconsin, home to the University of Wisconsin and among the most progressive medium size municipalities in America. It is the home of Progressive Dane, a grassroots political party that has elected several members to the city council and county board of supervisors.

Anti-War Movement

On Tuesday, April 4, 2006 Madision voted 24,344 to 11,252 in a referendum on a U.S. miltiary pullout from Iraq. According to Dane County Democratic Party chair Wayne Bigelow the large "yes" vote on the referendum in several small municipalities around Madison would boost the statewide antiwar movement. Other than Madison, municipalities voting "yes" on the referendum included La Crosse, Whitefish Bay, Ladysmith and Shorewood. Source: John Leppanen. "Voters Say ‘No’ to Iraq War." The Daily Cardinal.
