Liberal Democratic Party

From dKosopedia

The UK's Liberal Democratic party was formed as a result of a merger between the traditional Liberal Party and the social Democrats, who were formed in the early 1980s as a breakaway group. from the Labour Party.

The 'LibDems' are presently in a ruling coalition with the Conservative Party since May 2010, an alliance which some have dubbed ConDem, in reference to the programme of cuts and austerity measures the government has been seeking to carry out.

The LibDems' present leader is Nick Clegg.
