John Shelby Spong

From dKosopedia

John Shelby Spong is a now retired Bishop in the Episcopal Church whose writings have provocatively argued that the church needs to accept much of the Biblical tradition as poetry and metaphor rather than as historical truth. He has decried the extent to which Christianity has been defined in the public eye as the province of Evangelical Christians and favors a more Christ like approach to the faith.
