Rep. John Joseph Hall (born, July 23, 1948, Baltimore, MD), a Democrat, defeated incumbent Republican Congresswoman Sue Kelly for the 19th Congressional District of New York in the 2006 general election (see New York U.S. House election, 2006).

A musician from Dover Plains, New York, he co-formed the band Orleans in 1972. The band is most familiarly recongized as writing the song "Still the One".

Hall's concern for enviromental issues are apparent throughout his carrer as a musican as well as a civic advocate. Hall wrote the song "Power", which was the theme song for the No Nukes concert. John was one of five organizers for those sold out concerts. John worked with the group Mid-Hudson Nuclear Opponents, who fought against the placement of a nuclear power plant along the Hudson river sucessfully. During the late 1990's John was elected twice to the Saugerties Board of Education. It was here that he further learned about the importance While in this position he was elected by his fellow trustees to the position of President of the BOE. Hall furthered his knowlege about the importance of education during his tenure in this position.

Hall's platform included: favoring universal healthcare, more support for the funding of No Child Left Behind Act, greater funding alternative energy sources and opposition to the privatization of Social Security.
