From dKosopedia

Jack Goldsmith is a Harvard Law professor who was part of the group of lawyers who internally criticized the Bush Administration' legal support for its pro-torture stance in the Torture Memos. His role is set forth here.

A later article from Newsweek Palace Revolt -- They were loyal conservatives, and Bush appointees. They fought a quiet battle to rein in the president's power in the war on terror. And they paid a price for it. A NEWSWEEK investigation.Palace Revolt states that Goldsmith was the individual responsible for overturning the Torture Memo.
