Labour Institute of OTOE The Labour Institute of OTOE (Greek Federation of Bank Employees) was founded in 1990 and exists as the research and development branch of OTOE. Its administration consists of President Aristoteles Lakkas, Co-Vice Presidents Panagiotis Skartsolias and Spiros Lazaridis, Secretary of Finance Dimitris Bazigos, and three regularly-rotating union members (currently Nikolaos Kotsakilafis, Nikos Delkos, and Athanasios Lappas).

In its 15 years the Labour Institute has undertaken a massive research and educational project focused on providing vocational training to employees in the banking sector and developing a well-organized platform. Due to rapid changes in the area of banking technology, the Labour Institute has begun offering educational programs for bank employees. The programs, which are intended to keep bank employees up to date on the newest banking systems, products, and technologies, are located in Athens and other regions of Greece and are sponsored by the European Union. The programs’ ultimate goal is to educate not only the Greek banking sector but also to see that banking systems worldwide are properly equipped with individuals who receive continuous training in their field.

OTOE also believes in the importance of a strong publication. “Banking Sector Executives in Greece: Conditions of Pay and Work, Role and Prospects” was published in 2003 and outlines major demographic trends among banking employees and systems.

OTOE’s international relations branch works closely with other trade unions from all over the European Union on European Training Projects such as Leonardo da Vinci, Adapt, Force, and Afett. However, OTOE also works with other banking trade unions outside the European Union, especially Cyprus.
