David Vitter

David Vitter is a Republican U.S. Senator from Louisiana. He was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004, to fill the seat left open by John Breaux's retirement.

Vitter represented Louisiana's 1st Congressional District in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2004. He was elected to this seat by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Robert L. Livingston, Jr.

Vitter graduated from Harvard University, attended Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship and earned a law degree from Tulane University. He and his wife Wendy have four children.
