Brian Kemp

Brian Kemp, an Athens real estate developer, defeated Democratic incumbent Doug Haines in the 2002 GOP sweep of Georgia elections, in a district that was roughly a 6 point Democrat-favoring district. He was re-elected in 2004.

In 2006, he unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for State Agriculture Commissioner. See Georgia Executive Branch Elections, 2006.

Kemp is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Gridiron Secret Society.
