Bobby Jindal (born June 10, 1971, Baton Rouge, La.), a Republican Representative of Louisiana's 1st congressional district, LA-01, was elected Louisiana's governor in October 2007. Although his family were Hindu immigrants from India, Jindal converted to Catholicism as a teenager.

Elective office
- Jindal won the Louisiana governor's race on October 20, 2007, becoming the nation's youngest governor. Jindal carried more than half the vote against 11 opponents, more than enough to win outright and avoid a Nov. 17 runoff. (See Louisiana gubernatorial election, 2007.)
