Black Irish

From dKosopedia

The term "Black Irish" is sometimes used to refer to Irish people with dark skin and hair, purportedly due to Iberian ancestry. The most popular theory to explain the origin of the black Irish is that the "Black Irish" are descended from survivors of the Spanish Armada. No distinct population group identified as the black Irish actually exists in Ireland or among the expatriate Irish. Their existence might be a function of efforts to explain why many real Irish fail to conform to the absurd stereotypic "Irish Spring commercial" image.
